Tip 68: Don’t Forget the Rhythm

It’s easy to forget about building your skills in rhythm recognition when you’re working with theory, so be sure to focus on that as well.

If you have problems writing rhythmic notation, try splitting the rhythms into smaller patterns. You can also apply specific syllables to each beat (e.g. ‘ta’ on one) to help you translate what you’re hearing to notes on a staff.
